Begin Again: The Beautiful Art of Becoming a Beginner
🌱
From Auntie Glammah’s Enchanted Journal
Darlings,
Let me tell you a secret: there is no expiration date on your curiosity.
Whether you’re 26 or 86, your soul is forever ripe for wonder, and your hands are never too old to hold something new. If you’re feeling the whisper of something calling—something you’ve always wanted to try but never dared—I invite you, lovingly, to follow it.
Take the dance class.
Pick up the clay.
Try that wildly colorful new recipe.
Learn how to swim.
Study the stars.
Plant something and call it art.
You don’t need permission. You only need your spark.
We’re all beginners at something, no matter how much we’ve mastered. And my goodness, isn’t that deliciously human?I recently found myself learning a new way to blend pigments in my studio—not because I had to, but because I wantedto. It lit a fire in my belly and reminded me: learning is living.
And here’s the thing—when you let yourself be bad at something new, when you let go of the fear of not being “good” and just allow yourself to play, you’re doing the bravest thing an artist (or a soul) can do. You’re choosing expansion over perfection. ✨
🎨 You might splatter paint everywhere.
🍲 You might burn the soup.
💃🏾 You might trip during the first few salsa steps.
But oh, sweet starshine, you’ll be alive in a way you haven’t felt in ages.
Creativity is not just in the end result—it lives in the trying, the experimenting, the “let’s see what happens.” Even a single brushstroke, a scribbled journal entry, or a curious Google search toward a new craft is a spark added to your creative flame.
So I ask you, precious one:
What have you always wanted to learn?
What’s tugging gently at your sleeve right now?
What if you let yourself explore it… this week?
You deserve that adventure.
With joy, glitter, and a beginner’s heart,
